I would just add that if you want to transfer energy with light particles (like microwaving your food or receiving wifi signal) the frequency has to be about the same as the vibration of molecules you're trying to excite. The microwave only excites water molecules, (it's why your plate only gets warmed from the food that's on it) otherwise the particles either pass through or bounce off

uv or higher energy light has the same property, but also has a chance to free electrons or even protons from molecules making it unstable and likely to fall apart (it's why you get cancer)
